They are calling it the best seat at South Bank, and Brisbane’s Stoke Bar certainly presents a good case for top billing.
Perched almost on the edge of the Brisbane River, this bar is a combination of good food, excellent cocktails and that view. Throw in a penchant for locally sourced produce and a chef who really knows his stuff, and you have a top-class combo.
Stoke Bar is, of course, part of the much lauded StokehouseQ. Ensconced in its own building with an enviable position, Stoke Bar’s views take in much of the Brisbane River’s city reaches. As the afternoon morphs into evening, twinkling city lights add a new dimension.
The bar overlooks the lush green amphitheatre of River Quay Green which is a great spot to kick back on a weekend afternoon. There’s often a free event here on weekends which is popular with friends and family groups. You can even bring the family dog, although he’s not able to join you at Stoke Bar afterwards.

Stoke Bar Grazing menu
The bar menu is full of delicious treats designed for grazing. Think sweetcorn risotto, soda battered fish and chips, wagyu cheeseburgers or a soft-shell crab slider.
Cocktails include a lilly pilly G & T, River Rider with a lemon myrtle note, and the too pretty Lavender Lime Breeze which comes topped with violet foam.
Check the video below to see bar on a lazy Stoked on Sunday afternoon. Sessions start at 2 pm with a DJ spinning a few tunes.
