Can you think of a better way to spend an evening than dinner with an artist, a winemaker and your best friends at Art of the Palate?

Treasury Brisbane’s play on taste buds, Art of the Palate brings food and wine together while supporting local artists.

Kelvin Dodt, Chief Operating Officer at Treasury Brisbane says the combination is a unique Brisbane event.

“Supporting our artists is very much in line with our Star Vision. It is all about local spirit through the artist, and their art, our city’s cultural ties to excellent food, combined with the highest quality wine producers Australia has to offer, says Kelvin.

The evening starts with a drink and chats in the heritage atmosphere of Treasury Brisbane’s Ryans on the Park where an amuse bouche is served.  It is a chance to view and enjoy the featured artist’s works on the walls before the hard work of dinner begins.

Over a four-course dinner in The Lab, the winemaker and artist take turns to share their thoughts about the paintings and wine.  It’s an intimate look at some of their favourite subjects that will inspire and delight.

Meet Brisbane’s passionate artists at Art of the Palate

Art of the Palate runs monthly showcasing Brisbane’s passionate artists and their ties with its history.  It started with Lance Boucaut followed by artists Matt Stewart, Anne Armstrong, Angela Wilson and Louise Saunders. Next in the series will be Karen Collins and Terry Vidler.

The artists display their work in Ryans on the Park and the Lab during the month leading up to each event.  Each artist attends the event and gives an overview of their inspiration for their works taking guests on a journey of exploration during dinner.

The June event showcased artist Marcel Desbiens who achieves the illusion of reality by painting a representation of a real object.  Marcel says he wishes to lead the viewer towards an emotional reaction that is soothing and inspiring.

How does the chef match the food to the wine and art?

The winemaker shares his tasting notes with the culinary team to begin the process.  They carefully and creatively match them to the nuances of the wine’s terroir and to complement the winemaker’s attitude using the freshest locally inspired produce.

Then you eat the result!
