Restaurant reservation platform OpenTable has checked its list twice and for the second year in a row, Queensland leads in Australia 50 Most Romantic Restaurants with 34 per cent of spots followed by New South Wales and Victoria.
That makes choosing the right spot for that important meal for Valentine’s Day dining, a special birthday dinner or to pop the question, just a little easier.

Even though more than 4 million Aussies have realised they were smitten with their partner whilst dining at a restaurant according to OpenTable, it is not always easy to get it right. You only have to look at reality television shows to see that!
Here are some tips that will help you make the most of that special dinner or Valentine’s Day dining.
- Choose a restaurant where you feel comfortable and has good ambience. That might be a view (great for those quiet moments) or dim lighting (everyone looks better in dim lighting).
2. Pick a cuisine that you and your partner both enjoy. You would be pretty safe with Modern Australian cuisine as it is enjoyed by 38 per cent of the Australian population according to OpenTable. The next most popular is European.
