Shannon Kellam’s MICA Brasserie is a mouthwatering Brisbane patisserie and bistro at Breakfast Creek next to Mercedes-Benz Brisbane. It’s another venue for Kellam and wife Clare, who also own and operate the French-themed Montrachet and King Street Bakery in Bowen Hills.  You can even pop into Bunnings on the way!

Mouthwatering Brisbane patisserie

MICA, which is a patisserie, bar and bistro, is located on the Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Centre Promenade overlooking Breakfast Creek and the Brisbane River.  It’s a surprisingly peaceful part of the river and promises many hours of great dining while enjoying the company of friends.

French pastries at Mica Brasserie

The brasserie has an extensive range of bread, the most scrumptious buttery pastries including Nutella cruffins and caramel choux, and gateaux that you will find very hard to resist. It’s the same sort of delicious lineup you’ll find at King Street Bakery, all made from scratch the old-fashioned way using top-quality ingredients.  Shannon wouldn’t have it any other way.

Locals love MICA Brasserie at Breakfast Creek

Every time I visit MICA there’s always plenty of people enjoying the excellent French pastries matched with a top coffee is undoubtedly a highlight for me.  With the launch of Go Boats from the Breakfast Creek pontoon just off the MICA promenade, you can also enjoy the pastries on a river cruise. Check the MICA website for the catering details and grab yourself a box of goodies before you set sail on the Brisbane River.

Things to do at Breakfast Creek

The Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct is ideally positioned as a dining destination. Apart from this must-visit Brisbane patisserie, there is purposeful retail therapy at Bunnings, BMW, and Harley Davidson window shopping or lifestyle goals to set at Morgan and Wacker, and the Brisbane Mercedes-Benz showroom topping it all off.

Outside MICA Brasserie, there are benches and a gazebo to enjoy the river views and picnic tables under shady trees around the corner.

Nearby, The Golden Pig is a restaurant and cooking school that serves up delicious Asian-themed food.

With the Brisbane River walking track around the heritage-listed Newstead House as a close exercise alternative and the 1.2 kilometres of the Kingsford Smith Drive river walk and cycle path, there is plenty to do in the area.

The Kingsford Smith River Walk is another excellent addition to Brisbane’s trails.  It has been named after famous Brisbane aviator, Lores Bonney who is renowned for completing the longest one-day flight of 1600 km in 1931.

Street parking is available but check under the Mercedes-Benz Brisbane building for their dedicated parking spots first.
