The best strawberry sundae

As a long-term strawberry lover, I feel well qualified to say this is this the best strawberry sundae ever! Even better than an epic Ekka sundae.  Here is where to find it.

Enjoy a perfect picnic

You’ve seen those perfectly styled picnics in the park that have become so popular during COVID. I wish my picnics looked like that! When I found out that my friend Lady Brisbane is now sharing her love of Brisbane’s best spots with picnic packages, I suggested we collaborate with a special offer to readers of Eat drink and be Kerry. The result is that you can save $45 on your next picnic booking for from 2 to 10 people until November 9. All the details are in this post.
I’m on the lookout for collaborations and special treats for my readers (check out the cheese and chocolate offers). Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Noise can make or break your dining experience!

New research from Flinders University shows that diners enjoy their food less in a noisy environment.  I’d guess that they also eat quickly and leave which means less food and lucrative alcohol sales for restaurants.

One of COVID’s silver linings has been fewer tables in restaurants and less noise but that won’t last. Time for restaurant and cafe owners to recognise noise is costing them money!

Why are restaurants so loud?

All about Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island)

Fresh from an island stay, I’ve got the latest tips on what to do when you visit which I shared with Philip Clark on ABC’s nightlife program.

Hotel perfect for social butterflies

Flynn, the social butterfly of the Crystalbrook Collection’s portfolio of hotels, will welcome its first guests on November 10. The Cairns Esplanade hotel will tempt travellers wanting great views of the Coral Sea from their balcony, glass-bottom hotel pools, a 24-hour gym or the ultimate tropical escape in the top three floor suites of the Esplanade tower with large balconies to laze the day away. Flynn’s Boardwalk Social offers market-style gourmet food and live music.

Do you think you know Cairns?  You might be as surprised as I was by the changes I discovered on my last visit.
