Feast on Brisbane October 6 – new this week
The best strawberry sundae
As a long-term strawberry lover, I feel well qualified to say this is this the best strawberry sundae ever! Even better than an epic Ekka sundae. Here is where to find it.
New NSW road trip
While the border gates have been shut those clever folk in northern NSW have come up with some great new reasons for you to visit. Think authentic Mexican food, a classic pub stay, breakfast in the tropics, beach riding and balloon rides, and a bison farm where you can learn new tricks. From Tweed Heads to Casino here are nine new experiences to enjoy.
Enjoy a perfect picnic
Well done Mary Valley Rattler!
A new all-access carriage on the Mary Valley Rattler means wheelchair and assisted access passengers can enjoy a ride on Australia’s third-largest heritage railway. You’ll find the Rattler just two hours’ drive north of Brisbane. It’s a great day out!
What’s your next road trip?
Did you know that 61 per cent of Australians are planning a domestic road trip and over 40 per cent are planning hit the highway before the end of 2020! Be ahead of the crowd with some of my smart planning tips and these nine great routes. Road tripping has never been so much fun!
Noise can make or break your dining experience!
New research from Flinders University shows that diners enjoy their food less in a noisy environment. I’d guess that they also eat quickly and leave which means less food and lucrative alcohol sales for restaurants.
One of COVID’s silver linings has been fewer tables in restaurants and less noise but that won’t last. Time for restaurant and cafe owners to recognise noise is costing them money!
All about Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island)
Fresh from an island stay, I’ve got the latest tips on what to do when you visit which I shared with Philip Clark on ABC’s nightlife program.
Hotel perfect for social butterflies
Flynn, the social butterfly of the Crystalbrook Collection’s portfolio of hotels, will welcome its first guests on November 10. The Cairns Esplanade hotel will tempt travellers wanting great views of the Coral Sea from their balcony, glass-bottom hotel pools, a 24-hour gym or the ultimate tropical escape in the top three floor suites of the Esplanade tower with large balconies to laze the day away. Flynn’s Boardwalk Social offers market-style gourmet food and live music.
Do you think you know Cairns? You might be as surprised as I was by the changes I discovered on my last visit.
FEAST ON BRISBANE OCTOBER 5 Recipe of the week
Mangoes, with 200 million consumed every year, are arguably Australia’s favourite fruit. The mango season has officially started and I’m sharing my five favourite ways to eat this fruit including a delicious mango salsa that is so easy to make. Check my profile for a link.
