Feast on Brisbane November 9
Exploring Brisbane and its regions is always a treat and over the past week, I have been on a Lockyer Valley road trip, given the food at Gwinganna a taste test and enjoyed a staycation at Kangaroo Point.
Here are the latest food and travel experiences that are worth getting out of bed for! You won’t regret the calories.
Follow my trail and enjoy the Lockyer Valley.
New Milton gin and vodka distillery
Located in 25 Finchley Street, Warehouse 25 is a 436sqm warehouse that has been turned into a distillery, casual bar and pizzeria. There’s plenty to explore here with multiple areas including a large indoor and outdoor area, mezzanine area and underground function space.
Warehouse 25 showcases an open distillery with a 100-litre vodka still and 50-litre gin taking centre stage. Venue owner, Cameron Lee’s vision is for it to be a cool locale to enjoy drinks and bites with friends in a relaxed atmosphere. It’s also a venue to host your party and a place to grab a bottle of spirits to take home.
There’s a bottleshop in the works, with plans to sell spirits under the label Calm Spirits Co. Dining is a casual featuring fresh snacks and share plates like their Caprese salad, pumpkin and risotto insalada, burnt broccoli and mushroom arancini balls and pizza.
Warehouse 24 will be open seven days a week for lunch Monday to Wednesday and dinner Thursday to Sunday,
Gwinganna getaway
Last week I was at Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat learning about Sugar, Stress and Sleep. I enjoyed a lot of sleep but did miss my morning coffee! It’s is a beautiful place which makes it easy to switch off from life and switch onto learning how to live better.
Now I’m back in real life and still not drinking coffee, I’ll give you the low down on how to make the most of a stay here and what you’ll be eating. New blog post coming soon.
New Scenic Rim glamping
Keira Farm, a five hundred acre working cattle farm, fifteen minutes west of Ipswich on the edge of the Scenic Rim, has added new glamping and camping options. The Lodge is the name of their new luxury 5m-wide bell tent with queen bed, armchairs, floor cushions and a rug. It also comes with a private gas heated camp shower and toilet.
Kangaroo Point and The Point
I sampled a Brisbane city staycation at The Point Hotel at Kangaroo Point on the weekend and found plenty of interesting options to explore in this delightful suburb.
After drinks at Eagles Nest and dinner at Lamberts, we were off early the next morning to check out the newly renovated and reopened cafe on the top of Kangaroo Point Cliffs. Joey’s is fresh and clean with a light modern menu. The views are amazing, and it is a great place to showcase Brisbane to your friends. Do book as this place already getting busy.
Watch out for my new blog post this week with 17 surprising things to do at Kangaroo Point.
Picnic among olive and lime trees
Watercress Creek in Pine Mountain is opening its gates on November 22 from 8 am to 2 pm for a picnic in the olive grove and lime orchard. Visitors can purchase a picnic pack from fourth-generation farmer Bernie Mahon and find out how they make their gourmet olives and preserves on the farm. The farm was originally a dairy and then small crops but Bernie planted the olives and limes.
Watercress Creek is about a 50-minute drive from Brisbane through Ipswich. While you are in the Ipswich area, check out these places to eat.

FEAST ON BRISBANE November 9 Recipe of the week
With so much on the US election to digest, it’s good to have a sweetener to keep you going. These brownies are the perfect pick me up and secret treat. You’ll want to hide them from the family.
