From the moment you walk through the doors, Brisbane rooftop dining at The Terrace is a spectacular experience. The sunsets are stunning, but anytime of the day the amazing city views are a talking point.  It’s as if you are on top of the world! The atmosphere, the food and uninterrupted views of the city skyline all contribute to making this one the best Brisbane rooftop bars and of the most remarkable places to dine in Brisbane. Did I mention there’s a rooftop pool as well?

With new Chef Rina Jang at the helm creating mouth-watering plates to share across lunch or dinner there’s a new reason to re-visit the Terrace this Summer season. Drawing from her vast experience across  Korea and Australia, Rina brings her passion for Japanese, Korean and Chinese cooking to life with a specially crafted menu that fuses the best Queensland produce.

Located on level 21 of the Emporium Hotel at South Bank, The Terrace is one of my favourite places to recommend to visitors who want to experience what Brisbane really has to offer.  Here you will discover the perfect combination of Brisbane’s outdoor lifestyle and fun but stylish décor. What’s on the menu for Brisbane rooftop dining at The Terrace?

Chef Rina’s new menu, which is just in time for the entertaining season ahead, will satisfy all palates covering a tempting array of share plates, mains and desserts. Drawing on the fabulous flavours we know and love with seafood taking a starring role, grazing plates (Izakaya) include Mooloolaba king prawn salad, salt and pepper squid, Moreton Bay bug rolls and Hirasama kingfish sashimi. Mains include crispy Borrowdale pork belly with pickled apple salad, white miso marinated market fish with char grilled broccolini, kohlrabi, mango and coriander and the slow-cooked beef short rib with char-grilled pumpkin, shitake mushroom, soy glaze, already wowing diners since its release. For a sweet taste to finish, a matcha green tea tiramisu or jasmine riso gelato with toasted sesame cookie, miso butterscotch will surprise and delight with its delicate flavours.

General Manager Julie Manega, said that Rina’s addition to head up the Terrace dining now completes the culinary team and that she is delighted to have her on board with Rina’s experience in the Asian food arena. “Rina’s attention to detail and ability to balance the strong flavours from the produce is terrific, and her new menu is what diners to the Terrace will enjoy with it’s array of simple but tasty dishes, perfect for our subtropical climate’.

Lush décor and fittings at Emporium Hotel

Located on Grey Street, Brisbane, within the very flash $600 million Southpoint precinct by Anthony John Group, Emporium Hotel South Bank elevates the level of style, comfort and service in the boutique hotel industry in Australia. I’ve stayed at Emporium Hotel several times and love the lush décor and fittings in the 143 sumptuously appointed suites. When it comes to food and beverage options, you are spoilt here too.  Choices include Signature restaurant, French patisserie Belle Epoch and the Piano bar.  There is also 24-hour in-suite dining.

Poolside villas at Emporium Hotel

On the same level at The Terrace rooftop dining and bar, there is a spectacular rooftop 23-metre infinity-edge pool and bar.  With the perfect Brisbane north-easterly aspect, it looks over South Bank Parklands, the Brisbane River and CBD. The poolside villas look over the pool and have after-hours access for private swims.  Staying here certainly would take things to the next level.

What you need to know about Brisbane rooftop dining

The Terrace is popular so I recommend booking which you can do online.  If you are staying at Emporium Hotel (here’s a look at one of their rooms), have a chat with the concierge if you’d like to have a pre-dinner drink. I recommend dinner at Signature, the hotel’s upmarket restaurant.  The food is delicious, and the décor makes dining a pleasure.  For an after-dinner drink, the Piano Bar downstairs awaits. For breakfast, you can head back to The Terrace and enjoy the view again or downstairs to the French-inspired Belle Epoque. They also offer high tea here, and it is very special.
