The earthy aroma of truffles will delight diners in July with five-course Otto truffle degustation set to delight during Good Food Month.  Don’t forget that Otto is now in their new home on Brisbane Brisbane River at South Bank.


Manjimup truffles

Otto Chef Will Cowper prefers Manjimup truffles from Western Australia and will be using them for the Otto Truffle Degustation.

Manjimup lies 295 kilometres south of Perth and is the largest producer of Superior Perigord Truffles in the southern hemisphere. The regions rich, fertile soils and cool climate are ideal for growing premium grapes and black truffles. The climate is similar to renowned truffle destinations in France and New Zealand.


The last time I enjoyed truffles at Otto, Will created truffle cornettos, truffle mushroom arancini, and a delicious scallop truffle combination.  His house-made fettuccini with slippery jack mushrooms perfectly enhanced with truffles was amazing and the truffle gelato with hazelnut praline and fresh truffle outstanding. The gelato is a beautiful combination of sweet, salty, crunch and ooze.  It was my highlight dish for the evening.

“Our smoked ham hock carbonara, mixed wild mushroom risotto and potato gnocchi with parmigiano reggiano are my favourite ways to eat a truffle. None of these dishes over complicates the beauty of the ingredients which allows the truffle to sing. I don’t think you can get anything more delicious” finishes Will.

OTTO Truffle Degustation

The Otto Truffle Degustation for Good Food Month doesn’t come cheap at $255 per person, but you’ll make memories with every mouthful.  All dishes will be served with shaved black truffle with a five-course truffle degustation dinner menu created by OTTO Head Chef Will Cowper.

Expect dishes such as Carpaccio di Manzo ‘OTTO Reserve’ beef, truffle dressing, aioli, parmesan, capers, rocket; Capesante Hervey Bay scallops, Jerusalem artichokes, mushrooms, pancetta; Gnocchi Cacio e Pepe
Potato gnocchi, butter, parmesan, black pepper; Bistecca di Manzo ‘OTTO Reserve’ steak, parsnip, cavolo nero, veal sauce; and Gelato Truffle gelato with hazelnut praline.
