Located in one of Australia’s favourite gourmet destinations, Taste Port Douglas 2023 takes the stage from August 10 to 13. turning Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland into one big foodie epicentre for a long weekend of Port Douglas food festival feasting. Expect an all-star lineup of Australia’s best chefs, cookbook author, stelevision personalities, and wine experts. 

Tropical North Queensland is home to some of Australia’s most beautiful sun-drenched beaches, superb snorkelling and sublime reef resorts. What better way to take in the sand, sun and sea than dining on some of the most delicious seasonal local produce the region offers at Taste Port Douglas 2023?

Using the breathtaking backdrop and tropical location of Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort at Port Douglas, Taste Port Douglas transforms the resort into a bustling foodie epicentre for the weekend. Leading the festival is Port Douglas Chef Spencer Patrick, who operates Harrisons restaurant in Port Douglas. Joining Spencer for the festival will be a strong lineup of nationally known chefs.

Who were the 2022 chefs? From Queensland, the list included TV Presenter and Chef Alastair Macleod, Ben Williamson from Agnes and Bianca; chef, presenter and author Dominique Rizzo; Jake Nicolson from Blackbird and Donna Chang.

From New South Wales came Aaron Ward, Shell House; TV presenter and author Anthony Puharich from Victor Churchill; Colin Fassnidge, Kitchen Nightmares, Manu Feildel, My Kitchen Rules;  and Wine Consultant, Communicator and SommelierSamantha Payne.

Victorians included Adam D’Sylva from Lollo, Coda & Tonka; Adrian Richardson, Good Chef Bad Chef; Jerry Mai, Pho Nom; Industry Legend Raymond Capaldi and Bente Grysbaek from Off the Grid Catering and Pope Joan.

Joining the lineup from South Australia will be David LeMire from MW Shaw + Smith and Massimo Mele from Grain of the Silos and Peppina.

Previous Taste Port Douglas festival highlights

The weekend starts with a party under the stars at the Sheraton Festival Village Gourmet Lawn. There’s a two-hour grazing package from Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort’s Executive Chef Belinda Tuckwell.

On Friday, the Taste Port Douglas Long Lunch takes over Market Park in Wharf Street, Port Douglas and the Taste Port Douglas Collaboration Lunches and Dinners start and continue over the weekend.

The Saturday festival starts with a feast of pop-up food stalls on the Sheraton Festival Village Gourmet Lawn, just a heartbeat from the shores of Four Mile Beach. Guest chefs and popular local eateries will share their favourite foods. Expect cooking demonstrations, masterclasses, food and wine stalls, pop up bars, industry talks and live music. Sunset Sounds is an evening of the region’s best drinks producers, DJs, live entertainment and performers. Sip and sway to chilled-out house tunes and a grazing feast of chef-prepared snacks and stations.

On Sunday, enjoy a coal-fired Fat Mango BBQ festival with top chefs bringing their top flame game to the grill. Industry experts will be on hand to answer your questions on barbecuing styles.
