Why should Santa have all the fun on Christmas Eve?
Santa has shared his exclusive recipe with Emporium Hotel South Bank for his new favourite beverage to drink in the lead up to Christmas. Santa’s Brew, exclusive to Emporium Hotel South Bank’s Piano Bar, is a deliciously Christmassy mix of Roger’s Beer, butterscotch liquor, butterscotch foam and a sprinkling of nutmeg that adds up to a refreshing festive drop that is sure to turn up the Christmas spirit this year. Only available for a limited time at The Piano Bar in the Foyer of Emporium Hotel South Bank.
Aussies go cray-cray for lobster
In a week where nothing seems surprising, Coles has given foodies an early Christmas present by cutting the price of WA rock lobsters to $22 each. Snap these up while they last.
If you want to taste lobsters fresh from the water, here’s my list of the top eight places in Tassie where you can satisfy your cray-cray cravings.
New Brouhaha at Caloundra
One of the Sunshine Coast’s most-loved breweries, Brouhaha, is set to open the doors to its second coastal location at the Aura Business Park in Baringa, inland from Caloundra. Set over an expansive 1500sqm open-plan and industrial format, the new site will feature exposed concrete walls, two mezzanine levels, a brewer’s lab, a double-storey tap-room and 16 sour and hoppy taps. Patrons can look out over the entire brewery and see the whole production process from the brew kit to the tanks and packaging lines. Located at 1 Edison Crescent, Baringa, the brewery will open from 11 am to 9 pm Friday and Saturday, and 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday.
New in Noosa
Heading to Noosa for a well-deserved break? Catch up with the latest openings here. There’s a few including ALBA by Kuruvita, Sydney’s Italian institution Lucio’s, and an expansion at Rickys Noosa Expansion:
The Sunshine Beach Surf Club has a Sunset Bar in the Ocean View room where you can grab a cocktail, feast on their delicious menu and there’s even a kids chillax zone! It’s open from 20 December through to 9 January from 4.30 pm each day.
Enjoy a great evening out with a Noosa After Dark Tour organised by 4U Transfers and Tours. They will take you around the Noosa Hinterland region to discover local flavours at a winery, distillery and craft brewery.
Luxe it up at Sanctuary Cove
It’s true! Sanctuary Cove is Australia’s answer to Orange County, California (cue The O.C. theme song California). Nestled in the northern end of the Gold Coast and the home of premier waterfront properties, Sanctuary Cove is a mecca of dining and boutique shopping all centred around the world-class marina where the rich and famous dock their superyachts.
Bistro 19 is known for having the Cove’s best coffee, while Anchor Buoy Cafe is positioned perfectly on the marina. This is where you’ll find a magnificent pancake breakfast. Try a long indulgent lunch Ioesco Cafe Cucina and Bar and enjoy the incredible water views, and fresh local Italian fare to match. Roll into a tipple or two in the afternoon at the Instaworthy Destino Wine & Cocktail Bar, before heading out for some of Sanctuary Cove’s fabulous fine dining experiences at Red Steakhouse and Artichoke Restaurant and Bar. You can also eat seafood fresh off the trawler, cooked or green, at the Sanctuary Cove Prawn Trawler. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for arrival and availability.
