When you can’t imagine a holiday without your favourite furry friend, take them with you and try a pet friendly hotel like this dog friendly stay in Brisbane at Ovolo The Valley.

A dog friendly stay in Brisbane

Travelling with your dog is much easier with the pet-friendly Ovolo V.I.Pooch program offering dog-friendly hotel rooms across Australia. We were invited to try out a pet friendly room at Ovolo The Valley, which is so handy to all the Valley’s great dining spots.

The pet friendly rooms come with a plush dog bed, a no-mess eating and drinking mat, and separate food and water bowls. The rooms can accommodate up to two furry friends at Ovolo Hotels around Australia and in Hong Kong. We test drove a dog-friendly room at Ovolo the Valley. It certainly got a five-paw star rating from Miss Bella, my five-year-old cockalier (cocker spaniel/King Charles cavalier cross).

Sleeping at a dog-friendly hotel

The first-floor room we stayed in was spacious enough for a quick game of fetch and also included an outdoor balcony which came with a patch of fake grass. Human Ovolo guests are welcomed with a Loot Bag full of snacks, so an Ovolo V.I.Pooch also enjoys a designer ‘Doggy Bag’ containing woof-worthy dog toys, healthy dog snacks and handy poop bags to take along on walks. There’s a comfy king-size bed for the humans and plenty of extra seating areas.Extras include a free minibar stocked with beer and wine, free internet and a wide range of viewing options on the television.

Want some music?  Ask Alexa, and she will play your heart’s desire, although you could do worse than staying on Radio Ovolo via Spotify.  Its 80s tracks will surely put you in the party mood or put on your bathrobe and slippers, sit back and watch your fave Netflix programs until you head out for a night on the town.

Lots of little dog-friendly stay extras

There’s a Nespresso machine for that early-morning coffee, and if you have exhausted your loot bag and need a late-night snack, head down to the lolly jars near reception.  You can fill a paper cup with freckles, jubes and sour kisses.

Exploring the pet-friendly hood

We set out to explore Fortitude Valley’s James Street and found plenty of dog-friendly stops.  See below for places to eat and drink with your dog. On our morning walk around the Emporium complex, we found where all the cool pups shop at Fortitude Valley Vet.  They have an extensive range of colours (plenty for redheads) with bandanas and even dog hats.  If you are travelling with a feline furry friend as well, they offer cat boarding. It doesn’t get more pawsome!
