Discover the Bali Beach Holiday You’ve Always Dreamed about! Uncover the Reasons Why You’ll Fall in Love with Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort in this Review.

There’s something very special about a stay at Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua, Bali, and you’ll notice it as soon as you enter the lobby. The resort sprawls over several hectares of beachside land with four wings around lagoon pools.

The luxury hotel is set within a lush tropical garden filled with the lush greenery that is so typically Balinese and boasts a prime beachfront location.  One of the great advantages of staying here is the direct access to the beautiful beaches of Nusa Dua.

Dining options include a fine-dining restaurant serving international cuisine, a beachside bar and grill, and a lounge serving light snacks and cocktails. The hotel also features a large outdoor pool, a fitness centre, and a spa offering a range of massages and beauty treatments. You can also enjoy massages under thatched roof canopies on the beach.

The resort has 413 rooms with 39 suites and villas.  It’s all five-star, but the Presidential Villa is very popular, especially with presidents!

Where did I stay?

I stayed in a Luxury Room with a king-size bed, Club Millesime access and pool access. This 48 square metre room has direct access to the lagoon pool and a luxurious bathroom with a separate bath and rain shower.  It comes with complimentary internet too!

My swim-up room was a real treat. It’s a private enclave protected from passers-by with a wall of plants. I could have sat there for hours.  It’s also ideal for families with children. The kids can play in the water while parents watch from the comfort of their room or the verandah.

The lagoon swimming pool also links to the main swimming pool with a swim up bar. That means you don’t have to walk around in your swimmers to get a drink.

Staying in a pool access room also meant I could experience a floating breakfast.  This is a treat that I’ve seen splashed across other folk’s socials that I really wanted to try.

Just place your breakfast order by choosing the floating breakfast option, and it will be delivered to your room. Once it is placed into the pool outside your room, you can get in and eat it while sitting or standing in the pool. I took mine down the canal outside a friend’s room, and we had breakfast together.  It was so much fun.

This is the Bali beach holiday of your dreams.

So close to the beach

This room was just a few minutes walk from the beach, and even though I loved the pool, I loved the beach even more!

Buying on the beach is part of the holiday entertainment here. If you don’t want to buy, just don’t look at the sellers and they soon get the message. At Sofitel Nusa Dua, the beach sellers are all registered. It’s nice to chat with these real locals and learn a little about their lives while browsing through the wide selection of goods they have. I bought four dresses so I can share them with my close girlfriends, and we can have a Bali party!

I paid between $10 and $15 each. Although that is probably way too much in their minds, I would have paid much more for these dresses at home. I might have overpaid, but it’s not a lot of money for me, and for these people, it can make a real difference in their life.

Remember if you buy anything with plant or animal material in it, like woven bags, wooden ornaments or shell homewares, you will have to declare this at Australia Customs. I always pack these items last so they are easily accessible.

Also, remember to clean your shoes, as every little bit helps prevent the spread of foot and mouth disease from Bali to Australia.

Don’t miss the spa

For me, a holiday is not completed without a session at the spa, and Sofitel’s So SPA does not disappoint.  You’ll be impressed by the serenity here from the moment you walk in the door.  There’s a range of treatments available, but I chose a massage. It was so relaxing I nearly fell asleep.

Just because I could, I also indulged in a beach massage.  Here you can listen to the waves while your body is given a real treat.

Sunday Brunch at Cucina

If your stay includes a Sunday, brunch is a must-do. This is how every buffet should be, with food that tastes as good as it looks and it looks amazing.  It’s the best buffet I have seen, with a wide selection of international and local dishes, live cooking stations, fresh seafood, and a dessert bar.

The buffet typically features a variety of dishes to suit all tastes, including a selection of salads, grilled meats and vegetables, soups, and main courses, such as pasta, rice dishes, and stir-fries. The live cooking stations offer the chance to see the chefs in action and to enjoy dishes made to order. There’s a focus on Indonesian produce with Indonesian coffee, Java oysters and chocolate.

My top picks are beef Wellington, porchetta and baba roasted pig, seafood spaghetti, sashimi and sushi.

You know how everyone has a separate stomach for dessert, here, there’s a separate chilled room for dessert. Inside there’s every sort of cake, a chocolate fountain, plus a cheese centre.  It’s so hard to pick just a few tastes, so you may have to go back for seconds.

Cucina is the main restaurant at Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua, and it offers a range of dining options for guests, including the popular Sunday buffet.

Best tip – Go very hungry and try at least three new things.

Getting to Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua

Nusa Dua is approximately 20 kilometres (12 miles) from Denpasar International Airport, located in Bali’s capital city of Denpasar. From the airport to Nusa Dua by road usually takes around 30 to 40 minutes, but it depends on traffic conditions.

Several transportation options are available including taxis, shuttle buses, and private cars. Taxis are readily available outside the airport terminal and can be arranged for a fixed price or as a metered fare. Shuttle buses and private cars can be arranged in advance through the hotel or through travel agencies.

Traffic in Bali can be congested at times, especially during peak travel season, so it’s a good idea to allow extra time for your journey from the airport to Nusa Dua.

Have you booked your air travel to Bali?  I travelled with Batik Air and was pleasantly surprised by the comfort offered on this budget airline.
