There are few reasons to arrive mega early at an international airport, but the Emirates lounge Brisbane Airport is definitely one of them. On a sparkling Queensland morning, I headed airside with one goal in mind—to sample the airline’s new A380 Premium Economy seat and, perhaps, sip something bubbly while I was at it.
Emirates Lounge Brisbane Airport: A Refined Escape Before Take-Off
Step inside the Emirates lounge at Brisbane Airport and it’s like slipping into another world. With floor-to-ceiling views across the tarmac and the Brisbane hinterland beyond, this is no generic airport escape pod. It’s polished, elegant, and—most excitingly—features direct boarding from the lounge to the aircraft, a rare luxury that adds a layer of seamless sophistication.
A generous lunch spread greeted guests at the launch: flaky pastries, gourmet savouries, fresh fruit, and an excellent coffee bar. For those in the mood for something stronger, premium spirits and a well-curated wine list with local spirits (Bundaberg Rum) were within easy reach.
There are spacious showers if you need a refresh and quiet lounge areas where you can await your flight in relaxed comfort. It’s a great way to start your holiday.

A380 Premium Economy Seat: Spacious, Stylish, and Seriously Comfortable
Onboard the Emirates A380, A380 Premium Economy seat options are located at the front of the main deck in a cosy 2-4-2 layout with just 56 seats. It feels quiet, refined, and—for those of us who’ve endured long-haul in Economy—a luxurious step up.
Each cream leather A380 Premium Economy seat offers 19.5 inches of width, up to 40 inches of pitch, and generous recline. There’s a six-way adjustable headrest, a calf-rest and footrest, and a large entertainment screen loaded with Emirates’ legendary ICE system (that’s up to 6,500 entertainment channels, if you’re counting). A personal side table and in-seat charging keep gadgets at hand and powered.
The seat strikes that elusive balance: more comfort and space without the intimidating aura—or price tag—of Business Class. Ideal for travellers who want extra comfort without going all in on lie-flat luxury.
Sadly, I didn’t get to take the full flight, as the aircraft stayed firmly on the ground. But from the moment I reclined the seat and explored every in-seat feature, I could see why Emirates’ Premium Economy is making such waves in the aviation world.
