Even though my Sydney visit was filled with networking from morning coffee to late-night drinks, returning to my apartment-style suite overlooking the Botanic Garden made the stay feel more like a retreat than a business trip.

Luxury Apartment Suites at Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour
Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour has built a reputation as one of the standout Sydney Harbour hotels, offering elegant apartment-style accommodation in one of the city’s most iconic locations.
Rather than compact hotel rooms, the property focuses on generous one and two-bedroom suites designed more like serviced apartments. These luxury apartment suites at Circular Quay include separate living areas, kitchens and private balconies, which makes them particularly appealing for longer stays or travellers who appreciate a little extra space.
It’s a concept that works beautifully in Sydney, where location and comfort are equally important.
Location
The location is exceptional. The hotel sits right on Circular Quay, making it one of the best hotels near the Sydney Opera House and the Royal Botanic Garden. From here you can easily walk to the Opera House, explore The Rocks, wander through the gardens or visit the Art Gallery of NSW.
Transport connections are also incredibly convenient. The airport train, ferries and light rail are all nearby, making it easy to move around the city without relying on taxis.
Being so central also means you’re perfectly positioned for major Sydney events. If you’re planning a trip during Vivid Sydney, this location would be particularly appealing. The harbour light installations, Opera House projections and the Botanic Garden’s Lightscape trail are all within easy walking distance.
The Room
I stayed in Room 811, a one-bedroom apartment-style suite overlooking the Royal Botanic Garden.
At around 79 square metres, it feels more like a city apartment than a hotel room. The suite includes a spacious living and dining area, a fully equipped designer kitchen, laundry facilities and a private balcony.
The bedroom features a wonderfully comfortable king-size bed and an ensuite bathroom with a spa bath and separate shower. After a day packed with meetings and events, that spa bath quickly became my favourite ritual.
I always travel with magnesium bath salts, which probably makes airport security wonder about the mysterious little bag of white flakes in my luggage. But soaking in that generous spa bath at the end of a busy day was the perfect way to reset.
While harbour-view suites are spectacular, I stayed in a Deluxe Garden View apartment and was genuinely glad I did. The balcony overlooked the Royal Botanic Garden, offering peaceful afternoons with a drink and a platter while watching the light shift across the trees.
The garden-facing suites are also quieter than the harbour side. Being east-facing, they capture beautiful morning sunlight as well.
The Extras
Breakfast was included in my stay and it was excellent. The menu offered a generous range of choices and, importantly, the barista cappuccino was included. That’s surprisingly rare at hotel breakfasts where coffee upgrades often come at an extra charge.
Another advantage of staying here is having excellent dining options inside the hotel. During my stay the weather turned wet and stormy on a few evenings, so being able to head downstairs for dinner without venturing into the rain was extremely convenient.
Food and Drink
Flaminia, the hotel’s recently opened Italian restaurant from Giovanni Pilu and Marilyn Annecchini of Pilu at Freshwater, celebrates coastal Italian cooking and outstanding Australian seafood.
One clever element of the menu is that you can explore dishes inspired by different Italian regions. I was tempted to relive my recent Sicilian travels but ultimately chose the set menu, which offered a delicious introduction to a range of flavours from the kitchen.
The hotel has also welcomed El Vista, a glamorous Latin-inspired cocktail bar designed to evoke the golden era of 1960s Acapulco. Created in collaboration with The Maybe Group, the venue combines sophisticated interiors, Latin music and a playful cocktail list from the award-winning Maybe Sammy team.
It’s an atmospheric spot for sunset drinks before heading out to explore Sydney.
