Lisa McGuigan’s Vamp cellar door is anything but conventional. Guests are greeted by a fusion of art, eclectic décor, and a touch of drama that could only come from Lisa’s vision. “Everywhere you look, there’s a story,” she says. “I wanted it to feel like a place where people come not just to sip wine but to get lost in a unique world.”

Lisa’s pride in her wines is equally evident. “My family is all about food, and I learned early on that you need a wine that can hold its own with great dishes. So, I don’t serve anything here that doesn’t have a food pairing thought through,” she insists, a nod to her chef background. “I’m not one to settle. I’ve got oysters paired with just the right wine, cheeses that complement every sip—it’s all been curated down to the last detail.”

But her journey hasn’t been without its quirks. Opening day in 2019 was a whirlwind, as Lisa chuckles, “We didn’t have all the signs up, or everything finished, but who cares? We opened anyway! I just poured a glass of wine, put a bowl of olives out, and we were off. Sometimes, you just have to go with the flow!”

And go with the flow she did, even adding cocktails to the mix. “I never thought I’d serve cocktails here, but one day, the idea hit. Now we serve a Prosecco with lemon sorbet and mint—a crowd favourite. It’s fun, and it keeps people on their toes!”

Lisa’s team is a key part of her dream. “I couldn’t have done this without them,” she says with a warm smile. “My collaborators and friends came together to help me make this vision real. It’s truly a family affair—whether they’re pouring wine, explaining pairings, or helping with events, everyone here has been part of building this from the ground up.”
