Enter here for good times says the sign over the door at Sum Yung Guys offering the promise of a gastronomic happy ending.  Sum Yung Guys has moved from it’s Sunshine Beach location to Noosaville.

Sum Yung Guys has certainly got tongues wagging with its delicious Pan Asian food. The new restaurant is the baby of MasterChef’s 2016 runner-up Matt Sinclair and three of his best mates, Michael Rickard, Jeremiah Jones, and Dylan Campbell.

So popular is this venue that you really need to book at least a week ahead to get a seat on a Saturday night, and that might only be at the bench. The bench sounds a lot worse that the reality. Stretching the length of the venue and facing Duke Street, bench diners have a pleasant view over the plaza area below.
The menu is designed for sharing although die-hard don’t want to sharers will find the large section has plenty of options that double as a main meal. For the rest of us, it’s a matter of ordering from the small, medium, large and sides sections and hopefully saving some space for dessert.

Meals arrive as the kitchen cooks them with smaller meals generally coming out first.

We started with the Moo Ping Skewers – tasty morsels of Thai street food style pork, followed by a serve of the pork and prawn dumplings luxuriating in a sauce of black vinegar and crisp chilli. The bright yellow wrappers around the dumplings was soft and moist so the slippery parcels wemt down very easily.

A fresh Indonesian salad mix with sweet potato, egg, peanuts and sprouts certainly brought back memories of dining in Bali on Gado Gado, only better.

From the mains menu K2 sat on a half chicken satay with house made roasted peanut sauce, while I shared a plate of grilled snapper in a coconut ginger and turmeric curry sauce topped with Thai basil.
I’ve been told that I made a major mistake in my ordering choices and should never have by passed the house made roti on the sides menu. I’m also keen to try the morning glory in garlic and oyster sauce.

There’s not a dish on this menu that doesn’t tempt, providing many reasons to return and check out the guys again.
