Don’t let the five-lettered word ‘vegan’ put you off these new menu options, the animal-friendly chocolate coma is worth it!
Join Elyssa on her mission to try Chocolateria San Churro’s new vegan menu for Eat, drink + be Kerry. Spoiler alert – she was impressed.
I’ve always been a sweet tooth and so when the opportunity came up to taste Chocolateria San Churro’s new menu… well, I couldn’t resist. This mouth-watering new menu is pretty special because it caters to vegans and non-vegans alike.
Let me tell you, the chocolate coma is worth it!
Churro chocolate coma
Although San Churros have always used their traditional Spanish churros recipe, vegans were only able to enjoy their classic churros and dark chocolate recipe (disclaimer – still delicious). Now, vegans are in chocolate heaven with more options than ever!
The Happy Vegan dish is clearly the front-runner. Imagine a fresh-to-order bowl made from churros, rolled in cinnamon sugar and then filled with vegan salted caramel and honeycomb gelato (the kind of honeycomb that pops in your mouth). It’s topped with refreshing strawberries then topped with dark chocolate and everyone’s favourite vegan treat, Oreos. I’m drooling just re-living the memory.
Chocolate coma shake
A welcome accompaniment is the choc caramel craving shake made with almond milk and sprinkled with dark chocolate flakes.
Try a refreshing homemade lemonade on the side to cleanse the palette.
PETA Approved chocolate coma
It’s a stamp of approval from me (and my stomach), and if that’s not enough for you, it also gets the official stamp of approval from vegan authority PETA.
“San Churro’s delectable vegan treats make it easy to indulge your sweet tooth while also being sweet to animals,” says PETA’s Head of Campaigns, Mimi Bekhechi. “Offering plant-based dessert options is a piece of cake, and forward-thinking businesses such as San Churro who are listening to their customers and introducing tasty vegan options are reaping the rewards.”
What are you waiting for? Walk, run or roll into one of the many San Churros and check it out for yourself. Your taste buds will thank you.
