I’ve stayed in a lot of Sydney hotels over the years when TravMedia’s IMM pulls me towards ICC Sydney at Darling Harbour. After enough early starts, long conference days and late finishes, I’ve learnt one thing: where you stay matters. That five-minute walk back to your room at the end of the day can feel positively luxurious.
These Sydney hotels range from properties virtually attached to the ICC to hotels a little further away that offer enough extra appeal to make the walk worthwhile. Some win on location, some on price and others because they turn a work trip into something that feels suspiciously like a holiday.
Hotel prices in Sydney move faster than a seagull spotting hot chips, so the rates below are indicative recent “from” prices for 2026, rather than a promise of what you’ll pay on your dates. I once saw rates double during my stay as Taylor Swift was heading to town.

12 Sydney Hotels Near ICC Sydney. These Are the Ones I’d Return To
Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour
If being close to ICC Sydney is the priority, this is the obvious luxury option. The Sofitel rises directly beside the convention precinct, with 590 rooms and suites, floor-to-ceiling windows, Darling Harbour views, an outdoor infinity pool and Champagne Bar. I particularly like the bath! It’s got amazing views over Darling Harbour.
Indicative price: from about $330 a night.
ICC distance: around 200 metres or 3–5 minute walk, depending on which ICC entrance you’re using.
Best for: conference delegates, couples and anyone who wants five-star comfort without adding a commute to the day.
Why I’d stay again: Convenience is the trump card, but the infinity pool and harbour outlook mean you don’t feel as though you’re simply sleeping beside a conference centre.

Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour
This one stretches the definition of “near the ICC”, but it earns its place because it gives you a very different Sydney experience. The apartment-style one and two-bedroom suites sit at Circular Quay and include separate living areas, kitchens, laundries and balconies overlooking either Sydney Harbour or the Royal Botanic Garden. There’s a great bar and Italian restaurant, Flaminia, downstairs.
Indicative price: from about $600 a night. ICC distance: approximately 2km, so allow roughly 25 minutes on foot or use transport.
Best for: longer stays, couples wanting more space, families and anyone who wants to turn a work trip into a Sydney Harbour stay.
Why I’d stay again: Space. Having a proper apartment rather than just a hotel room is particularly welcome when you’re staying several nights, and Circular Quay outside the door is a considerable bonus.

Rydges World Square Hotel
Rydges World Square puts you firmly in the CBD rather than on the Darling Harbour waterfront. There are 458 rooms and suites, a gym, restaurant and bar, with Chinatown, the QVB, Pitt Street Mall and light rail all within easy reach. The hotel itself describes the ICC as about a 10-minute walk away.
Indicative price: from about $220 a night.
ICC distance: around 800 metres to 1km, approximately 10–15 minutes’ walk.
Best for: travellers who want the ICC within walking distance but also want to be embedded in the CBD.
Why I’d stay again: It gives you more city around your stay. You can finish at the ICC and walk back, but you’re also well positioned for shopping, Chinatown and theatre.

Aiden Hotel Darling Harbour
This is the Aiden by Best Western Darling Harbour property on Murray Street in Pyrmont. It’s a smaller, more boutique alternative to the big convention hotels and sits only a few hundred metres from ICC Sydney. The wall art is a real highlight, especially the wall art over the beds. The rooms are compact, but I love that this hotel has great hairdryers and a clothes steamer in the room. There’s also a fabulous bar downstairs which doubles as a cafe for breakfast. Self check in is easy too.
Indicative price: from about $250 a night.
ICC distance: around 380–450 metres or 5–7 minutes’ walk.
Best for: solo travellers, couples and conference-goers who prefer a smaller hotel and want to keep the accommodation bill under control.
Why I’d stay again: It occupies a useful sweet spot between price, personality and proximity. You don’t need to sacrifice your shoes to Sydney’s hills before the conference day has even begun.

Hyatt Regency Sydney
With 878 rooms and suites, the Hyatt Regency is one of Sydney’s biggest hotels, sitting on Sussex Street between the CBD and Darling Harbour. Harbour-view rooms, generous workspaces, restaurants and the rooftop Zephyr bar make it particularly well suited to combining business with a little after-hours Sydney.
Indicative price: from about $270 a night.
ICC distance: around 850 metres or 12 minutes’ walk.
Best for: business travellers, larger conference groups and anyone who wants strong hotel facilities as well as a walkable ICC location.
Why I’d stay again: It’s large, slick and easy, and Zephyr is a particularly good argument for not disappearing straight back to your room after the day’s sessions.

Novotel Sydney Darling Square
Darling Square is one of my favourite locations for an ICC stay because you have Chinatown, restaurants and the Chinese Garden of Friendship around you rather than feeling marooned in a business precinct. The Novotel has 230 rooms, an indoor pool and gym and sits directly across from the broader ICC precinct.
Indicative price: from about $245 a night.
ICC distance: allow approximately 5–10 minutes’ walk, depending on the part of the sprawling ICC complex you’re heading to.
Best for: food lovers, couples, families and delegates who want plenty to do once the lanyard comes off.
Why I’d stay again: The location gives the stay a life beyond the conference. You step outside and immediately have Darling Square’s restaurants and Chinatown at your disposal.

The Langham, Sydney
The Langham isn’t the hotel to choose if you want to fall out of bed and into the ICC, but it’s one I’d happily walk further for, especially if you like pink! Set in historic Millers Point, it has elegant rooms, The Day Spa by Chuan and its wonderfully theatrical 20-metre indoor pool beneath a star-dappled ceiling. There’s a gorgeous on-site bar.
Indicative price: from about $500 a night.
ICC distance: approximately 2km or 23 minutes’ walk.
Best for: luxury breaks, couples, spa lovers and anyone adding leisure days to a Sydney business trip.
Why I’d stay again: Sometimes proximity isn’t everything. If I’ve got enough time to actually enjoy the hotel, The Langham provides a far more indulgent counterpoint to a day spent under convention-centre lighting.

Swissôtel Sydney
Swissôtel Sydney is a good choice when you want to be close enough to walk to ICC Sydney but firmly in the middle of the CBD. The five-star hotel sits on Market Street opposite the State Theatre, with the Queen Victoria Building, Pitt Street Mall and Westfield Sydney practically on the doorstep. Its 369 rooms and suites have a polished contemporary feel, while a rooftop heated outdoor pool, day spa and 24-hour gym add some welcome downtime after a conference day.
Indicative price: from about $450 a night.
ICC distance: approximately 1km or 12–15 minutes’ walk.
Best for: business travellers, couples, shoppers and anyone who wants to combine an ICC event with time in central Sydney. Recent rates found in September 2026 started at $269 for two adults, although Sydney prices can rise sharply around major events.
Why I’d stay again: The location does double duty. ICC Sydney is comfortably walkable, but you’re also right beside the QVB, Pitt Street shopping, restaurants and light rail, so the hotel makes particular sense when the convention centre is only one part of your Sydney visit. And after a day inside the ICC, that rooftop pool is a rather persuasive alternative to heading straight back to the laptop.

Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour by IHG
Crowne Plaza sits on Bathurst Street, close to Town Hall as well as Darling Harbour. The hotel has 152 rooms, a rooftop heated pool, fitness centre and easy access to both the CBD and ICC precinct.
Indicative price: from about $290 a night.
ICC distance: approximately 500–650 metres or 6–9 minutes’ walk.
Best for: couples, business travellers and anyone who wants convenient access to both the conference centre and central Sydney.
Why I’d stay again: The rooftop pool gives it an edge after a long day, while Bathurst Street puts a substantial chunk of central Sydney within walking distance.

Furama Darling Harbour
Formerly the Holiday Inn Darling Harbour, Furama occupies an 1890 heritage building on Harbour Street beside Chinatown. It has 370 rooms, including family options, plus a 24-hour fitness centre and self-service laundry. Most importantly for this guide, the ICC is only a short walk away.
Indicative price: from about $250 a night.
ICC distance: around 400 metres or five minutes’ walk.
Best for: families, business travellers and anyone seeking one of the more moderately priced options close to the convention centre.
Why I’d stay again: It’s a practical choice in a terrific food neighbourhood, and the combination of Chinatown and Darling Square nearby gives you plenty of dinner possibilities.
Booking details:Furama Darling Harbour
Rydges Australia Square
Rydges Australia Square has 280 rooms, Le Petit Flot restaurant and Poco Local Wine Bar.
Indicative price: from about $220 a night.
ICC distance: roughly 1.3km, so I’d allow around 18–20 minutes on foot.
Best for: CBD business trips, solo travellers and visitors who want Wynyard, Circular Quay and Pitt Street closer than the ICC itself.
Why I’d stay again: Its Pitt Street position works particularly well when the ICC is only one part of the trip. Wynyard is about five minutes away and Circular Quay is an easy walk.

Booking details: Crowne Plaza Sydney
Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Central Park
At the southern end of the CBD in Chippendale, Four Points by Sheraton is a little further from the ICC but gives you spacious contemporary rooms, large work desks, soundproof windows, a 24-hour gym and easy access to Central Station and the restaurants and shops around Central Park.
Indicative price: from about $240 a night.
ICC distance: around 1.4km or 19–20 minutes’ walk.
Best for: travellers arriving by train, university visitors, business travellers and anyone planning to explore Chippendale as well as Darling Harbour.
Why I’d stay again: Chippendale gives you a different slice of Sydney, and Central Station nearby can be more useful than being right beside Darling Harbour if your itinerary takes you beyond the CBD.

So, where would I stay near ICC Sydney?
After staying in all 13, I don’t think there is one answer. It depends on the trip.
If I had several full days at ICC Sydney and wanted the easiest possible commute, I’d concentrate on the Sofitel, Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour, Aiden, Furama, Crowne Plaza and Novotel Darling Square. For a stay that balances the ICC with the rest of central Sydney, Hyatt Regency and Rydges World Square make plenty of sense.
If the hotel itself is part of the reason for going to Sydney? That’s when I’d happily put a few more steps on the pedometer for The Langham or Pullman Quay Grand.
The lesson from staying in this many Sydney hotels is that “close to ICC Sydney” can mean anything from crossing the road to a 25-minute walk. Check exactly where your event is being held within the ICC complex before booking too. It is enormous, and choosing the right hotel can be the difference between breezing into the morning session and arriving already feeling as though you’ve completed your first cardio workout.
